wow talk about a great library of games! the ps2 has been around for a while so there have been some incredibly fun games made for the system. there have also been quite a few truly horrid ones made, so be aware of those as well (sony granted licenses to game companies willy-nilly). i would start off with anything that has been turned into a "greatest hits" title since only those that had a certain number of copies sold achieved that benchmark. also check out some review sites such as ign.com and gamerankings.com and sort their review list by highly rated.
my faves - the grand theft auto franchise, ico, gran turismo 4, okami, beyond good and evil, god of war, guitar hero 2, madden franchise

I played a wicked game tonight called Guitar Hero. Wow Fun. you can use the controler but it is better to get the guitar for the game. Very sweet

dont get a ps2. im a fan but go with the xbox or save up for next gen console. but if u get ps2 get madden 07. and if get xbox get halo 2 (or even 1)

Depends on wut yur into. I like planes,Skateboarding,Guns,music,hunting,and action. Thus I would recommend in planes: Ace Combat. In Skateboarding: Tony Hawks Project 8, Tony Hawks Underground 1&2. In guns I would reccomend:Gun, America's Army, and Call of Duty Series.
Music:Guitar Hero 1&2( U will fall in love with the combanation and fast yet graceful rocking out to and playing your favorite rock songs.). Hunting: Cabelas Dangerous hunts is a must. Action: Kingdom Hearts 1&2,Jak 1,2,&3. But like I said It is wut yur into that will decide how u choose

for racing games i recommend need for speed most wanted, burnout 3.
for first person shooters i recommend black, call of duty 1 or 3.
for sports i recommend pro evolution soccer 6 or fifa 07, smash court tennis pro tournament 2, cricket 07, raw vs smackdown 2007, fight night round 3, tony hawk's pro skater 4

I think the sims games are pretty cool and dance dance reveloution is pretty dang cool to and u can get diffrent music for it....
