I think so. I love music, I play three instruments, and I also want to learn trumpet. I'd go for it, but it is very difficult to learn something like trumpet in that short amount of time. You may not be able to play her a jazz song, maybe only "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." But maybe you should take lessons now, and surprise her for her birthday!

Practice range everyday once you have proper embouchure (check with band director or lesson teacher). Their is no magic technique that will make you whip out high F's, it all comes with practice. One thing to watch out for is pushing the mouthpiece into your face harder. It may make playing high a little easier, but it is a bad habit. Also, you shouldn't crunch up, because this will block your air flow. Just stay cool, tighten your lips together, buzz faster, and support with good airspeed. Practice going up scales multiple times, into the high register. Don't just play a high note right away. Hope this helped and good luck extending your range

honestly, it would be nice but if it were me, i think that being the only one there and the only one listening, i think that it would scare me just a little, but i don't know you or your girlfriend so go with your gut.
