I am considering getting my bellybutton pierced after I lose weight. However, I am unsure what care is needed after getting this done and I am still at school. Someone told me you are unable to sit straight up for a while. What care do you have to take after getting this done?

Some people take pain well, I do not, it hurt soooo bad it was over 10 years ago, and i still remember, but i do like it.
Wear yoga pants or really low cut pants, in a few days it'll be fine. They are so cute!

I got mine this past week. My sis had done her awhile ago and it got really infected and she had to take it out. It was infected from day one and now she has a big scar. I thought mine might be similar since we are sisters but it's doing great. The guy said it would puss a little and that's normal but it hasn't done anything at all. It's easiest to sit up straight but somewhat painful to bend down and stuff similar to that. I usually take a shower in the morning and use DIAL soap that is NOT scented. and at night i have hot water (8 oz.) with 1/2 tsp of pure salt that hasn't been crushed or anything like that. I bend over and put the cup on my belly and then lay slightly back with the salt water soaking it for 2 minutes. then i move it back and forth about 6 or 7 times, then hold the salt water on it for another 2 minutes. That's my cleaning process and it's working wonders. U'll be fine sweetie, but I do advise that you ask the person a ton of questions before u get it done, like about their needles and what not. and actually SEE the needles that they are going to use. That way u'll know it's safe. It didn't hurt that much by the way, less than getting ur ears pierced. it doesn't burn afterwards... or not a whole lot. Good luck hun!!

PS: do NOT!!!!!!! use alcohol or anything of that sort. antibacterial soap and salt water is ur BEST cleaning solution.

mine took about 6 months to heal in all..it was a bit painful and had a few minor infections and troubles with the metal in some of the piercings...cheap ones will still irritate me. While it is healing you have to disinfect it just like you do pierced ears. I used to clean mine with Bactine or peroxide a couple times a day. I never had any trouble sitting up straight that I can remember but I cant wear anything higher waisted than hipster jeans nowdays which is really all I wear anyhow because the piercing catches on the waist especially if it is a dangly one. As long as I dont use a cheap piercing,I dont even notice it is there anymore really

There is a chance that you can get an infection. I got a piercing (note not the bellybutton) and it's REALLYYYYY infected, i've been in and out of the hospital with antibiotics and the whole bit for like the last week. It sucks, it's icky and just plain ANNOYING. But maybe thats because my piercing is oral I don't know, any piercing risks the chance of infection. If you're willing to take the risk, than meh. And I actually have a friend who got her bellybutton piercing caught in a piece of clothing and actually ripped it out (it was pretty, um, gross...) Yeah, i've heard horror stories like that... Anyways, it's up to you. But piercings do need a lot of care (I have 6 of them) like cleansing with Spectrojell, um... sea salt, and the hardest thing: you can't touch it! That's the hardest not to play with it... trust me. And if you do end up taking it out, it could leave a scar. But yet again, if you're losing weight then it's a good treat ;) I recently lost 100 pounds so I know it can be rewarding! GOOD LUCK!!!!! :)

You know it all depends on you...different people have different reactions to these belly piercings...many like myself heal fast..but some do find their bodies rejecting the piercing. If you decide to get one make sure you care for it properly because if u don't you will certainly get an infection. Its pretty simple just clean it with antibiotic soap i recommend "Dial" about 2-3 time a day..DO NOT use alcohol...some say going to the beach helps it heal faster because of the salt water others may disagree from experience i can tell you it did help me and sitting up straight is rarely a problem. So If its something you really want i recommend you try it because you wont know how your body will react to it unless YOU try it.

i got my navel pierced this past summer. it healed within a month from the false information i was giving says that it took up to a yr. ANYWAYS lol when i got it done. it didnt hurt as bad as i thought. i could sit up straight. and after a week i was able to take it out. but i put it back in i was just curious to see how it looked. anyways the cleaning process. usually when you get it pierced they give you antibacterial soap. everytime you take a shower (twice a day) clean it with that around the navel and the ring so that you can make sure it doesnt get infected. there may be some puss but that only means that it is healing when there is no more puss it is said to be healed. and when it is no longer red or sore thats also true. hope i helped ~~

I'd say its a good goal to set yourself. what better way to compliment your new belly, and show it off. I was a bit of a fat git, as a teenager, but lost it (gained it, and lost it etc many times since) and had my belly pierced, when i was in a skinny phase, and it was easy, heeled quick, and still got it. Best not to have any girly stuff in bathwater, for a week or two...it would really agrivate it. just wipe over with boiled, salted water, twice a day.

after getting your belly button pierced you have to put petroleum jelly on a big band aid over it and leave it there for like a week and then you can take it off. And you have to make sure you can move it back and forth. It's not that hard to sit you just cant like lean forward that much.

Simple
1) Go somewhere good (ask people u know with their belly's pierced where they had theirs done)
2) Ask the piercer for care advice
3) Do whatever the piercer tells you!

I did this and mine was fine within days.

I won't lie. It did hurt me a bit, but you can sit up straight. Don't show your belly off in school. Boil some water. Put it in a cup. add 1 teaspoon of salt. Wait for the water too cool, then use a cotton bud too dip into the water and use it too clean

I had some problems with mine initially but I spoke to a piercer who got me a better quality ring and it was fine. I didn't cover it just kept it clean and let the air at it to heal. Make sure you're skirt doesn't rub over it as it can inhibit healing. Otherwise, so long as you go to a reputable piercer and use a decent stainless steel ring you shouldn't have any problems.
