He is certainly thought of as being ahead of his time by some people. He was talented and helped to change what the audiences of the earlier years of television were seeing. His "Requim for a Heavyweight" was an award-winning play. I grew up watching "Twilight Zone" on Friday nights--it was a gret sci-fi/fantasy programme that probably started my interest in the genre. I don't know whether he could be called quite ahead of his time but because of his own views of racism, gender, etc., the scripts that were used on TZ reflected those views and presented them to a large audience--the TV audience--and perhaps gave them something to ponder. Gene Roddenberry was very much like him in that way.

Stormy : well according to " Rod Sterling" yes he had an
T.Vserries called The "Twilight Zone" because all progams
are directed by him personly since early 60's ok see

I think he was in many ways. I have seen comparisons made between Stephen King and Rod Sterling ... interesting.
