People answer questions and get thumbs down, then go back and change their answers to try and get some thumbs up. I just don't understand why they let us change our answers at any point before the question is resolved. I don't mind it, I just don't get the method to their madness.

well, you can also make mistakes or you have another idea and you forgot to post it. I think it's doing more good than harm...

I'm glad they let us edit our answers. There have been several times that I go back and read my answer again, and I discover I need to change something (I know that's what the preview screen is for, but still).
Also sometimes the asker will add details to the question. This way we can add on to our answer and make it more specific to the question.

I use it to correct any spelling errors or typos, sometimes you are
typing fast and a typo happens. Whats the big deal.
