What's the longest time a successful rock band has disbanded then rebanded (and continued)?

Who was it? How long?
Reforming quickly for a tour doesn't count. I'm talking a band that existed, didn't exist, then clearly existed again, making albums, doing tours, and with the majority of the band members the same.

That would have to be Fleetwood Mac. They split for a good 15, 16 years, and then rebanded in 1997. I believe they may have disbanded again in 2005, though.
