Yes you can, it's a free country or so we're lead to believe! Try the Severed Alliance by Johnny Rogan the story of Morrissey and Marr. Quite a fascinating book about how it started and inevitably how it all went horribly Pete Tong. Wikepedia's always a good port of call too.

the smiths were one of the best bands ever....very unique and amazing. often sad music. they influenced and inspired many modern rock bands. the lead singer is morrissey who is basically the band. i was at his solo concert last month in wembley.
start by listening to 'big mouth strikes again', 'how soon is now?', 'panic', and 'there is a light that never goes out'. brillaint, enjoy!!
