Sorry to say to all you miss guided Timmy mallet fans (what a ****) it was as john g says Brian Hyland. Mallets version was a cover, do you realy think he had it in him to write a shopping list let alone a song!

It was originally sung at the end of 1950`s by the Star-Gazers. Timmy Mallet came much later.

I thought you meant the reprehensible cover version that Timmy Mallet (Bombalurina; oh the shame of knowing that) did and remains etched on my psyche back in the 1990s. Was it Tommy Shondell and the something or others who did the original?

The song was first sung by Brian Hyland it was a hit in the summer of the 60's it followed his first ever hit "Rosemary"
