Use a pad at first then use the tampon for later. Reason is the pad will control the first part of your period you know the heavy flow. The tampon use it when your flow is little just to cover your self. I'm sure you know how to insert the tampon. Stand in the shower or sit on the toilet and insert very slowly be sure to leave string outside the vagina. Hope this helps.

Tampons are best, especially if your period is sort of heavy. But always use a pantyliner in your underwear as a back-up if you do. Some days are heavier than others.

You just started?
Pads then. tampons... they hurt the first couple times... But once you're used to it, tampons are better.
