there are these older people across the street. as soon as they found out i was pregnant, they keep calling me and asking to visit. once i had my baby, they keep calling me and asking to visit.
i think they are SO creepy...like they are going to steal my baby. anyways, i don't want to be friends. i never call them.
today, she called and said "we want to give you some donuts." i was so surprised, i said "ok, but please wait till my husband gets home." then she said, "good, we want to come over to visit."
i do not want them here, but i can't be so mean either bc they live across the street and i will run into them.
they could be crazy, you don't know. what should i do? how do i get them to stop bothering me?
how do i get them not to visit today 1 hour?
they have visited me before. THEN, i realized they are creepy.

Sounds to me that they are just a little lonely. Old people can be annoying, and yes even a little creepy. Sometimes they even smell. But they are people too, and someday you will be old and lonely, then you can harass young mothers too. Just give them a break, flatter them once and awhile with a visit. I'm sure they are harmless.

It sounds like these might be the kind of people that won't take no for an answer no matter what you say, but if you don't think you can be direct with the truth (which sounds like it might be complicated) you may have to tell a white lie to get by...baby is ill, something contagious...whatever. Sadly, there are people that lack the social skills to understand when they may not be wanted around. It's also sad as it sounds like they are trying to be neighborly, but if your gut tells you it's a creepy situation it's better to be safe than sorry so trust your gut. Hopefully, with time and many excuses they will get the hint and leave you alone.

You don't really explain why you think they are creepy or why you think they are planning to abduct your baby. Maybe they're just a bit lonely and would like to hang around some young people, because their own kids never bring the grand-kids around to visit. I'd say let them visit, but have boundaries (i.e. no unannounced visits, not too frequently, etc.).

Just politely tell them no thank you. They may be nice, but they do sound creepy a little rude for barging in on your time. Tell them you're busy, don't return calls, say you're in a hurry/have an appointment/shopping to do/need to clean. Just continue being polite, but as distant as possible.

How about just being Honest? Tell this couple that you do not feel that you have anything in common and you would rather not have them visit. So what if they don't talk to you? Adress the issues at hand....or stop whining about it. It is up to you, sweetie.

I would just avoid them by screening your calls and not answering the door. Pretty soon they should get the hint. They do sound creepy!

Change your number and do not give it out to them. When they knock on your door, meet them at the door and tell them this is not a good time to visit. Close the door and do not let them past you. They'll get the hint.

You either have to consider their feelings or your own. Which do you prefer? If you consider yours more then you need to tell them that although you appreciate their concern and visits and such, that you feel awkward about it and would like it to stop...then STOP accepting gifts and allowing them to visit. Make yourself unavailable. You dont have to answer their calls or your door.

Refuse all future doughnut offers and phone calls. Tell them they need to help the neighbors next door to them.
Do you have a caller ID? Don't answer the phone when they call.
Also, after they call, you can press *70 and their phone number will be blocked from your phone. (they won't be allowed to phone you again!)

they may just be lonely; try talking to some of your other neighbors to figure out what their deal is. then if you still think they're creepy just don't answer the door and screen your calls.
