LimeWire is completely legal... downloading copyrighted material from limewire is illegal

Yes if

You're sharing files that you do not have rights to share
You're downloading files without the rightful owner of that file being aware of it
You're sharing files that the rightful owner is not aware you are sharing

It's legal if
You're sharing a file that you created because it's yours and you want the world to see it
You're downloading a file that someone else has created and uploaded because they want the world to see it
You're downloading freeware (Software that is licensed to be distributed for no price)

If you get the idea of it.

The programme is not illegal, it's how you use it. Same with a kitchen knife.

It is not illegal to simply have the program. It is illegal to download or share copyrighted material without the proper right to do so, regardless of the methods and programs used. To give an example, it is not illegal to have a gun, it is illegal to use a gun to shoot an innocent person.

No it is not. The server that runs limewire is in Britain, and there it is legal, so the U.S. cannot do anything about it.

yes you can be sued by the federal government for sharing and downloading multimedia files from limewire.

Some people say it is but its actually more of a sharing site because all the music is music put there from other people and its free and people put their music because they want to nobody is obligating them. That's what i think i use lime wire all the time.

no it is not illegal as long as you are sharing files too... if you are making cds and selling them that is illegal if limewire was illegal they would be shut down a.s.a.p.
