Rabbits are very social and usually are MUCH happier if they have a bunny friend to hang out with.
Sometimes it can be difficult to "force" a friendship between rabbits. They are kind of like us...some times they like another bun, and sometimes they don't.
It may be difficult to find your bunny a friend, but well worth it.
Just make sure they are both spayed/neutered so you don't end up with more bunnies and so they don't have fights due to hormonal changes.

If you don't have a lot of time to spend with your rabbit, then he/she needs a playmate. The best companion for a rabbit is either another fixed rabbit or a guinea pig. Two intact male rabbits will fight. An intact male and an intact female will breed. Two intact females will be fine together, but unless you are absolutely sure they are both females you could end up with a lot of rabbits about 4 weeks after they have both hit maturity.

I try not to offend people when I say this, but I do get pretty annoyed with people constantly saying that rabbits MUST or NEED to have other animals as companions. Rabbits ARE NOT social animals, in the sense that they need other animals around. They are not gregarious creatures. Gregarious animals are animals that NEED to live in herds, packs or groups to survive.

Wild rabbits do live somewhat together in a what is called a warren, but they do not do this for sake of "companionship". They are not snuggling up all together in one little burrow. Each rabbit will live far enough away to be in a solitude part-by themselves, yet within site/sound to be alerted of danger. Strictly a survival practice.

Rabbits are TERRITORIAL. They normally do not like to share their space. Even with their own human sometimes!!

Granted, not all rabbits are just like this. There are some that do like companionship of another rabbit, dog, cat, etc. But there are many times that even these rabbits that do get along with other animals for now, do get bored with it, or will start to fight out of territorial or dominance issues.

One pet rabbit is just fine, happy and content living by itself, in it's own cage, getting attention from you when you give it. Otherwise, rabbits do go about their little rabbit lives, entertaining themselves without us. Just because we may see them sitting there looking bored out of their skulls, does not mean they are expressing unhappiness or loneliness. Not all rabbits like to "put on a show in front of an audience"

Just love on your single bunny and get another if YOU want one. Try bonding them, but be prepared to have a seperate cage if it doesn't work out.

Rabbits can be great companion animals. They require a lot of attention. My best experiences with rabbits have been one at a time with a lot of human interaction. If you cannot give them a lot of your time another rabbit for company might be nice but I would recommend 2 nuetered males together. Often 2 females will fight as well as 2 unaltered males.

If you are not planning on spaying and/or neutering they need their own cages.

If you are, I know some people who have pet rabbits that live together.

I do not believe they do better or worse in either case. I raise rabbits, so they have individual cages and they have great happy lives. They have toys and get out for plenty of exercise. Just keep in mind that if they do not have a companion, they might need a little extra attention and plenty of toys to occupy their time.

If the rabbits are a boy and girl you should keep them in different places unless you want rabbit babies.

If their two girl's or boys you should put them in the same place and see if they like the company if not don't keep them way from each other or they will fight each other.

i have let out 4 MALE rabbits outside together to play in the grass. and they never fought. they just dug beside each other, sat ontop of each otehr and breed each other...lol..it look like a humping train...lol but not of them lost any fur. it was funny cuz they would try and out smart the otehr to see who could get away from who and not get bred. now if they were in a cage together they woould fight. but were they had LOTS of space to play and get away from each other and could not call territory they were fine.

i had to females..i let them loose in my kitchen and after they had turnes breeding each other once..they were fine..they played tag around the chairs. they shared a carrot and slept together.

so as long as a rabbit has space they seem to be fine. but keep and eye on them incase they do get in trouble but i would never put them in the same cage. side be side is ok cuz they can see each other and that keeps them happy as well.

Well it depends from rabbit to rabbit are they friendly or not? And if they are do they seem compatiable if you arent sure the best answer is no so that they dont attack eachother and potential injure or kill eachother.
