Clean it in the shower with antibacterial soap. coat it in soap foam and turn it atleast 8 times (hoop) or move it up and down atleast 8 times (curved barbell). Then run water over it moving as before for a full 60 seconds to make sure all soap is out. Then use a salt water mix or this great spray called H2Ocean Spray afterward. If it developes a slight redness and/or tenderness use a Qtip and gently apply witch hazel. If it gets worse, go to a doctor. Do not remove the jewelry unless instructed to do so by a doctor. Do not use alcohol or antibiotic ointments. If you have trouble working without touching it or scraping/pulling it break the end off of a plastic spoon, rub the spood end with witch hazel and tape it over your piercing with medical tape, until you have finished working. Do not touch it unless you are cleaning it and only with clean hands, nails included.

Just squirt some saline solution (contact lenses solution) on it, 2-3 times a day. It will help it stay clean, and try to refrain from touching it to often, so that it will heal quicker!

If you were dumb enough to pierce your belly button, then a pint of sulfuric acid should do the trick.
