You need to get a keylogger or some type of program to keep tabs on him and block unwanted sites. If you have any type of file share program, get rid of it. If you have a file share program, you can also put filters on it protected by a password.

If you have Road Runner, you can go to the site and download the parental programs to keep your computer safe from these sites/files. The parental control offered from road runner is called PureSight and you can set it to allow certain categories. You can block adult sites, dating sites, chat sites, etc. with the program. If you have road runner, it's free. You just need your administrative email address and password for your account. If you don't have road runner, I think the program costs $99.90. You may be able to find programs out there that are cheaper as well.

Road Runner also provides a free anti-virus program called EZ Armor Security. It has awesome anti-virus, anti-spam and firewall protectection to protect you from hackers and such. I have found it's way better than the default anti-virus programs that come installed on most computers today.

Also! Never let a child have a computer in their bedroom. Always keep it in the family room or somewhere they can not easily access these types of things with out you or someone else being around.

I prefer to run an external firewall, on an old 233mhz to 800 mhz computerbox, (usually free on curbside or cheap at a thrift store) and install http://ipcop.org (free!), that hooks to my internet connection, whatever it may be. Then, put Dan's Guardian up and filter web content by the bad words! http://dansguardian.org/

Works well at the Christian Academy in which we installed 48 computers! This is the solution that works best to protect. It runs 'headless' and is administered remotely from your computer, just like the $119 Cisco Linksys router, but, includes the extra programs you activate, like all the FREE Dan's Guardian, and Spam Assassin.

Kid's are worth the effort, and the rest is all free.

one thing you can do is go under tools, on the top of IE, and click on internet options, then go to the privacy tab and set it that way, but a better recomendation is to go with Norton internet security or McAffee offers the same time of program and it will let you set the security based on content and keywords and the such, and also you can password protect it so your children can't disable it, like they could if they know how to use Internet Explorer and such.

Don't be too much of a strict a.ss parent here. Just be careful of how much you try to regulate and restrict your children...it only hurts everybody in the long run.
