Astrology is a pseudoscience where practitioners claim to be able to predict the future based upon the organization/alignment of heavenly bodies.

There is much lacking in this, not the least of which that it relies heavily on our solar system, but was developed when only a few of our planets were known (where, for example, does Neptune fit into it now? as this planet was not known to the ancients; Did the "science" of astrology change in 1846 when this planet was first described? - a true science would be altered)

In fact, there is NO evidence to support astrology.

Horoscopes, as they are written, are vague for a reason; you can more easily assign a correct "hit", after-the-fact, when you don't even know the original prediction's meaning. If we want to find a connection, we easily can.

I encourage everyone to at least check the first link where James "the Amazing" Randi gives out the same horoscope predictions to an entire group of people and THEY ALL find ways to make it fit their lives!

The second link has him confronting an astrology charlatan

The sad truth is that Astrology isn't just some cute entertainment; it can be quite harmful for people to really believe this stuff, people can lose large amounts of cash or even (tragically) alter their lives based upon purely fictitious claims.

I believe in the influence of one's sun-signs and rising signs, and suppose the other "house's" also make a difference. I don't generally believe in the "prediction" angle of horoscopes... but maybe I should. I know someone who had surgery on a day their horoscope said "Avoid medical procedures" -- he didn't follow horoscopes, but I noticed it and I didn't want to look silly and point that out, so I didn't say anything. He died from complications. Coincidence? Maybe. But I'm less likely to take chances if I come across that kind of prediction again.

No. They are completely fake. They are a bunch of vague "predictions" on irrelevant things that can be broadly interpreted by the people gullible enough to believe in Astrology. If your going to study the stars and planets, study Astronomy like a rational person, and learn more about the universe we live in.

I had one of those books that gave daily horoscopes for three months. Mine for July 22, 1995 said "if you are going to drink this evening, have a designated driver." Guess what? I got arrested for DUI that night. I've been a believer since...

Very real, but ingore the paper, and other weekly sources.
Pay to get your full chart done by a professional who can explain things to you face-to-face.

Your full chart is an interaction of about 15+ parts and is very specific about who you are, what your tendencies are, and how you generally handle things....anything that focuses on only one of these parts (your sunsign) is not going to be very accurate or specific at all.

Who knows ??? I think most of the time, people want it to be real, so they tend to construe their particular circumstances so that the horoscope appears to apply to them... At least that's what the ghost that lives here says....and who knows if what he says is valid or not, he's been dead for quite a while.....

of course theyre not real, theyre just people making generalized crap up so vague that people think theyre actually predicting what will happen...

what would be really cool tho is to make a specific horoscope...put in a name or two, describe a specific event to make it seem real... then give them specific instructions to kill their boss with a butter knife...ya kno...stuff like that

too generic, unless you have a chart made up specifically for you.

some very reputable (some would feel),people feel that they really are of value.

I used to check mine on occasion in the paper and on line also, but very basic and much too generic....could apply to anyone or no one at all.
