My husband and I are getting ready to start IVF treatments later this month. And the price range can range from about 5k to 20k depending on the treatment that you get. It also varies from clinic to clinic.
The meds that you have to take are usually the most costly.

If you have insurace, you need to check with your insurance company to see if you have a fertility exclusion. Some insurances help pay for the costs and some don't.

Even if you don't have insurance for infertility, your insurance can still pay for basics tests and bloodwork.

I would recommend a fertility doctor instead of a clinic. I have been seeing a endocrinologist that specializes in fertility treatment. It took us two 1/2 years to get pregnant with their help. There are several different treatments that they will try, but first they should a blood work on you and your husband along with testing his sperm. Depending on your insurance a lot of it could be covered. If you Aetna, they will cover most of it, but be prepared as prescriptions can get pricey. Over our 2 and half years of treatment we spent roughly $8000 between our co-insurance and prescriptions. Best of luck and stay strong. Sometimes the let down is greater each month if a treatment doesn't work because you feel that your working with doctors and it should work.

I have, but it has been a while. What your health insurance may cover depends on the state where you live. In some states they have to cover infertility treatments by law, in my state they did not. They still covered many of the expenses that were not directly related to the fertility treatments, such as the many ultrasounds and blood hormone tests I had to have.

To begin, they will just talk to the couple and usually then they will begin by doing general tests, like how long the woman's cycles run and then the clomiphene challenge test to figure out the relative age of her ovaries. For us, we already had one child and had difficulty conceiving another one. Your situation is different. We opted for IUI and they tested my husband's sperm count, etc. as part of that procedure. We paid for that, as well as the fertility drugs we used.

At that time, if we had wanted to do IVF, it would have cost us approximately $11,000 per cycle. We probably spent less than $1000 per cycle for our IUI.

It depends on what technology and/or medicine is used. It's not cheap at all. Check to see if your health insurance will pay for a precentage of the procedures and medicine. Eight years is a long time so after they do tests on you and husband -- they may suggest a stronger medicine or IVF.

NO, sorry to hear that you have had no luck. I am sure they can help you. If you have insurence, most of the cost could be covered.
