considering buying a game system and leaning toword ps3? but still looking...details?

i am looking at by the 500 ps3 and i was details i am still considering getting xbox 360 but most likely not. i am into online play on ps2 and besides the graphics, what makes ps3 sooo good?

First of all, PS3 is not 700 dollars.
It's 599.99 for the 60 GB.

And to answer your Q:
1. PS3 support 1080p (True HDTV), meaning that by standard of console gaming, PS3 is the most powerful console. Yes, the graphic is amazingggg especially if you have HDTV.

2. It is a very cheap BLueRay player. Blue Ray Player itself cost about $1000. When you buy PS3, you get Blue Ray for roughly half the price. You don't have to buy an extra HD DVD player (like 360 ask you to)- for a $100.

3. Sure that XBOX 360 has better game (for now).. But, that because it came out a year earlier. If you wait for Ps3 to build up its library, i am sure it will catch up. DMC4, MGS4, FFXIII, RE, and so on. Metal Gear Solid 4 is exclusive to PS3 BTW.

4. Multimedia function. You can do pretty much everything that 360 can do.. just better (with more memory). You can install your own OS (windows, MacOSX, Linux) on PS3 if you want. Simply said, PS3 is a desktop that plays console game.

5. Remote Play. If you have PSP, your PS3 can communicate with it. You don't have to be in front of your TV to play PS3.. what you can do is connect your PS3 to PSP, and voila your PS3 window is on your PSP scren.
So you can play your PS3 in your yard or wherever..
For now you cannot go for more than 60 - 90 feet.. but Via firmware update, you'll b able to connect your PSP to your PS3 from your office/ school as long as they have wireless hotspot.

NOOOO dont get the PS3 it would be a waste of your money. its 700 bucks for the system and 60 bucks per game its not worth it cause their isnt any great games out for it. Save 300 dollars and go by an xbox 360 for 400. at first i was planning on getting a ps3 but i got a 360 instead and it is amazing. the online play is so much better and the graphics are almost equal. plus it has amazing games out like Gears of War and Halo 3 is coming out later this year. Plus they are easy to get and always in stock. Save your money and go with a xbox 360.
