Probably because there were plenty of other grounds to go into Iraq and put an end to the Saddam regime. I think most people understand the connection, or lack thefeof, with 9/11, It doesn't change the fact Saddam refused to comply with numerous UN resolutions, refused to let inspectors in, and even lied and said he did have weapons of mass destruction. I am not a fan of the war, but there is sufficient justification of you need it.

Exactly...soldiers are over there getting killed for NO reason. They really need to get their troops back in America because there's really no point in being there. Bush just wants to tear Iraq(need I mention that this is holy ground and is being destroyed for no reason!!!!) apart just so they could build there own stuff there and make it more "modern" if you will! Those Americans need to open there eyes and notice that 9/11 was an inside job...it's sad but true! I sill can't believe how people reelected this shitt brain Bush....every time I think about it it angers me!
P.S. There is actually no war in Iraq...congress never declared it "war"!

Very few Americans are blindly patriotic, most have other reasons for supporting the war in Iraq. Many people honestly believe that being in Iraq is good for the Iraqi people, it has nothing to do with patriotism.
Only 30% of people polled believe that we are actually doing a decent job in Iraq.

Look, around the time the war started Saddam made some nasty little remarks and refused to follow the regulations of the UN. At that time, the US, having already been attacked for the first time on our own soil figured that after 15 years of giving that retard more time, and extra special provisions, that it was time to put our money where our mouth was. We gave him until a specific date to comply and warned that if he didn't, we would be forced to attack. Saddam did not comply and we had to follow through. Personally, I'm glad he's gone. I'm glad there is a US presence in the middle east. What pisses me off is how everyone else in the world turns to the US every time some big catastrophe happens to them...but when it is us, where is the rest of the world? We've helped France numerous times. We rebuild Germany's economy. We have supported the Philippines for decades. In my opinion the rest of the world ought to shut up. The US acts as the police of the world, and while no one likes the police--they are the first ones you call when you're in trouble.

So you want an understanding of Blind Patriotism from a conservative...wow...well for a wtc survivor let me be the first to step up to the plate. WHERE DO LIBERALS COME UP WITH THIS STUFF...i keep saying last time and there is always one more...sheesh...the connection is AL QAEDA..they are a group of terrorists that have known connections to the insurgents in iraq. As of now, the only true democracy in the middle east is Israel which doesnt do much with oil and the Persian Gulf. Pacifism didnt work in ww one, two or vietnam and most assuredly wont work with Iraq.
Al Qaeda would like nothing better than to have you withdraw from Iraq. that way they can claim a victory and attack american installations all over the globe. Its very simple, like the red scare domino principle of the fifties...you stop them here or theyre like a cancer and they grow. We already tried leaving them alone, it didnt work. Al qaeda attacked the us cole and clinton played with interns and cigars. Al qaeda attacked the wtc in the early ninties and clinton, again played with interns and cigars. Al qaeda and Bin laden were stopped in Sudan. The sudanese asked for our help and Clinton did nothing. The idea here is doing nothing doesnt work.
Bush did something. Like it or not he responded to a real and violent threat of wtc by attacking in pakistan and ultimately here. There are a ton of liberals who are quick to parrot the Joe Biden line about Iraq having nothing to do with al qaeda....its not iraq..its the insurgents...theyre outsiders and they want the west dead. Despite what the nancy pelosi press releases may tell you its that simple. Bush didnt create it...he RESPONDED TO IT. Everyone is quick to jump on the bandwagon, the intelligence was faulty the weather was bad, we shouldnt have been there, etc. etc.. hindisght is ALWAYS 20/20. and the bottom line is no known successfull attack on domestic soil since wtc. When you look at the cole and the original attack as well as the african embassies bombed, having a president that doesnt need the interns for his devices appears to have worked.
i am a survivor of wtc in manhattan at 911. unless you have watched people jump to their deaths you dont know what you think you know here. War is ugly, deadly, and unpopular but it certainly doesnt make it unneccessary. We are dealing with an enemy that thinks they have god on their side and will literally fight to the death anywhere and anytime to get that accross.
Blind patriotism as you call it is a love for freedom and the land that gave it to you. Its very popular nowadays for the gen xrs to worship anti social icons like Kurt Cobain or Marilyn Manson. I have a different view. The system isnt perfect but those of us who saw wtc were permanently affected by it and choose to support and work within it.
My suggestion to you if you want an understanding of patriotism is that you talk to someone like me whos a direct surivivor of 911. They will ,as I am, be very offended, but at the same time give you an earful as I did.

Why do I keep seeing grossly generalized questions about Americans??? Let me just clear this up. Just like everything we hear isn't true.....not everything you hear is either. The Iraq war is major point of controversy in the United States. In case you didn't notice, the dominate party in the Senate changed the other day. This is a direct result of American's disapproval of the Iraq war. Why don't you start worrying about the causes people in your country blindly support and quit worrying so much about us.

I think you should say one third of Americans, as polls show more than 60% against the war. And as to being patriotic, given the harm the war has done to the American government's image at home and abroad, it seems that it may be patriotic to be AGAINST the war.

Looking at your avatar, you should be thankful Americans were "blindly patriotic" during WW2. Otherwise maybe MacArthur would not have returned and you all would be speaking Japanese right now.

Because people are lemmings. Most people would rather be told how to live and what is so than to take the time to figure it out for themselves.
I was one of the few from the beginning that opposed going into Iraq. I actually told my roommate during W's first campaign that be the end of his term he would have us there. She said I was paranoid. And look what happened. I was okay with going into Afghanistan to rut out Osama, that made sense. But even if the reasons for going into Iraq were believed they were flimsy and full of holes.
Unfortunately I believe another 3000 Americans will have to die before the "right" get the clue and pull out. I hope beyond all hope that we don't get another Pro-war president. If we do, I think I will have to reconsider my citizenship.

Because they were so brainwashed by the media in 2002/2003 that Iraq had something to do with 9-11 that the thought is permanently embedded into their brains. Even though they "know" better now, the brain still does link Iraq's situation now and 9-11 any longer
