I would registry at wal-mart, target or babies r us. It's you baby and you should be able to choose what you would like. As for price range, that all depends on your friends and family. If you have rich family members and friends, as for the best of everything. If you average income friends and family members, I would ask for a lot of things in the $20 to $40 dollar price range, which gives people a choice. You can always register for more expense things the highchairs and strollers as several people might go in together to by larger items.

I think you should ask for everything you need! Registries are to make things convenient for people trying to shop for you, so go ahead and include all the essentials. But I found that including clothes (aside from some very basic things) is a waste of time because the stores change stock fairly often, and you really never know what your baby will actually need until he/she is born. I was given tons of newborn clothes that never fit my very big baby! And in my opinion, don't worry about the price range - some people might want to join together and get you something huge! Just make sure there's plenty of little things so no one feels left out if they can't afford something big. Congratulations!!

I generally do registries to give people an idea of my wants and needs. I dont stay in a price range, I just pick what I would like, and my friends and family normally choose a less expensive variety of the thing on my list. it is more of a suggestion than an "i have to have this" I registered at target, but thats just for people who want to see a registry. Now adays people just get a pink or blue onesie with a gift card. I dont mind it, it gives me what I want in the end. Good luck and congrats.

I registered at Target and Babies R Us both, I don't have either one in my area, but they are both in the area where my shower will be. I did all my registering online. I'm 35 weeks now and my shower is in CT next weekend about 4 hrs from me (Im in Upstate NY). My MIL is having my shower there because that's where all my husband's side of the family live and it's easier for us to go there than everyone to come here.

I have already gotten 1 thing I registered for. My SIL got me the baby monitor I registered for at X-mas. I think a registry is a wonderful way to let people know what you want and need.

Registering is a way to get what you want and not want you don't want or need. Most people are familiar with how a registry works so make sure to put on your shower invitation where you are registered. Make sure to register for anything and everything you need. Even higher priced items are okay because some people pool their money to buy you bigger more expensive gifts like a crib or a stroller. If you don't register you will end up with way too many blankets and onsies. You will get people who don't buy gifts off the registry and that's okay because it's nice to be surprised by the gifts you receive too!!

I spent a lot of time doing baby registry, and nobody bought from it... it was a waste of time. People usually want to buy cute little outfits that the baby will use once!!
If there is a lot of stuff you NEED, then make sure the host of your baby shower lets your guests know that you have a registry.
Don't scan any big ticket items, keep everything under $40-50.
Good Luck!!

I liked babies r us. You can register online or in the store, people can go to a toys r us (since a lot of towns don't have babies r us) and get your registry, and they are kind of a one-stop-shop.

I know a lot of people who have done major registering at babies r us and have registered at target for a few things, or vice versa.

JC Penney also has a good selection of some really cute reasonably priced baby stuff.

Register for everything you think you'll need. Be sure to include things like diapers, diaper pails, accessories to bottle-feeding and breast-feeding, all kinds of things. I would suggest taking a mom you trust with you, because she's been there (or take your own mom... kind of a cool bonding day).

Register for big items like a crib, carseat, rocking chair, bassinet, dresser, changing table (I would actually suggest using a changing table that is part of or converts later into a dresser, since lots of people have limited use of changing tables), because a lot of time, either people close to you want to get your big ticket stuff, or several people (a sunday school class, girls at work, extended family, etc.) go in together to get it.

It can't hurt to register for every single thing you'll need. If you don't get it, you'll have to buy it anyway. Once you hit all the feeding and bathing and dressing and entertianing and sleeping stuff, you'll have a pretty wide variety of price limits.

Unless you want 50 onsies, blankets and stuffed animals, by all means register.

I registered for everything I needed, in all price ranges from the stroller/carseat and pack & play down to bottles and cloth diapers.

I even "registered" for the things I already had and marked them off as purchased. It gives people a selection, lets them know what you've already got, and they can go in on gifts if they want to buy the "big" stuff. You'd be surprised - all my coworkers went in together and bought the stroller/carseat for $200!

Plus, having a registry for even the stuff you don't get as gifts is a great way to keep track of what you still need.

Try kaboodle.com.

It lets you make a wish list of stuff on any web site you like, lets things be marked as purchased, etc.

Advantages:

-- lets you point people to the cheapest place for each item
-- lets you include things YOU and the father-to-be would like...
-- the only way to go if you want some posh stuff and some discount stuff

You can make a list with a silver rattle from a good jewellery store and bulk diapers on the same page. You can keep track of what you want to buy yourself. Etc, etc.

If you register at one store, you're limited to what that store sells, and you also can't point people who live near you to the nice little what-not sold locally, etc.

Price range should be, I think, from next-to-nothing for nearly-broke friends, and as high as you please, in case you have well-off or extremely generous people in your life. If I was having a shower I'd add loads of little things -- nice baby soaps and what-not.

My shower is next month too and I was the same why.....But when I registied at Target, I realized what all I needed and wasn't worried about asking... The website can answer alot of questions they did for me. I decided that the price range did not matter because every parent wants the best for their child.
