Big Ben got it right--Paul Revere was an engraver as well as a silversmith, and, as a member of The Sons of Liberty, one couldn't call his point of view unbiased. This is an early example of the use of both psychological warfare and the power of partisan propaganda.

You probably already know that Crispus Attucks, a free black man, was a casualty of the shooting. But did you know that John Adams (yes, half of "that brace of Adamses," as George III referred to him and his cousin Samuel) defended the British soldiers who fired on the crowd, and got them acquitted?

It was actually Paul Revere, the famous midnight rider. He made an engraving which he entitled "The Boston Massacre." The picture was biased and lopsided and made it look as though the British fired into a completely innocent crowd. But, the picture did its trick and influenced many Bostonians and colonists and the name "Boston Massacre" stuck.

I believe the correct answer to that is c. As it was the colonists who were defiant of the kings rule and the excess of soldiers. In truth this was no more then a riot.
