Green parties are starting to mean more than just being environmentaly friendly, but also socially responsible, on a global scale. We have seen so much damage being done to the environment, and we have seen so much destruction of culture due to war and capitalism, that people are starting to look for a better way. The old parties keep doing the same old same old, even though they try to put a new spin on it to make it look new and progressive. We have mega-countries with failing infrastructure, health care that is spiralling out of control, and a growing discrepency between the rich and the poor, even in the western world. A lot of people realize that if we don't change the ways of the world, that we won't have much of a world to live in anymore.

Green parties have helped form coalition goverments in a number of countries in the world, especially in countries with proportional representation of the vote in government. It may be a while before Green parties become more influential in other countries, but don't be surprised if in the next 10 years, more Greens are found seated in more governments!

Their growth comes from the 1960's. The baby boomers are full of fascist and radicals. Out of this came the environmental movement, which is anti-capitalist. Do not confuse these people with conservationists who believe in protecting free space.

Then the boomers had kids and they have kids. Add to that generations of indoctrination by liberals in government schools and presto.

The Green party has no major influence. They have no representation in Congress and have an ally in the socialist Bernie Sanders now in the senate.
