I need to find out if a power of attorney is still valid if the individual who gave the power of attorney moves to a different state from the one they were living in when the power of attorney was originally prepared.

Unless a POA is revoked or the principal dies, it is considered in full force and effect.

Contact your local bar association for a referral to an attorney in your area that can help you.

If you truly want to find a lawyer, start with a reputable company (any kind of company) and ask who represents them. Contact that law firm. If this is not their specialty, they will refer you to someone else. This is a good way to find a reputable lawyer. Big companies don't retain bad lawyers.

DON'T use the yellow pages, try to find one through someone who has had experience with one and found him to be good. Otherwise you may be in big doo doo. The majority are incompetent (that's true for any profession or trade.).
