It may sound too simple, but you just need to believe it. Like you believe that the sun will come up tomorrow - just let go of all arguements and let the thing be reality.
Besides, if something is beyond your control, what else can you do but accept it as it is?

It is a disturbing thought isn't it? I try to view my life as a movie, or even better on DVD, you switch to different segments of your life to review them. You cannot rewrite the disc, just as you cannot rewrite your life. Acceptance is simply looking at the facts and saying I can use this as a learning tool in my life for when I make mistakes or am trying to learn from my mistakes. I can go back to that segment and review that it was not meant to be, but the movie keeps going, the next segment, then next segment and so on. The problem for some is that they review and review the same segment over and over causing them more pain. This is when acceptance becomes hard because you are stuck there, like a flaw in the DVD/CD example that keeps skipping and going back to it. You relive the pain over and over. You constantly put yourself down for things that you have done, things that you thought were meant to be but you need to accept that they were not. This is my understanding at least. I seem to have had issues with this also. I try to view acceptance from several different angles and see which one is best.....perhaps I could say watching "my movie" in a theatre versus watching it at home in HIFI versus watching it on a 13 inch black and white, somehow you find the answers and when you search deep inside asking yourself constantly why eventually the truth becomes very clear. Good luck in your journey.

you accept the fact that somethings aren't meant to be by realizing that there is a reason for it... an example is that I was looking for a house and I saw one I loved but I didn't get it, 1 month later I got a better house! Usually it takes a while before you can get over the fact, but take time and you will eventually get over it and move on. I hope that I helped.

You've already answered that question. The very fact that you are willing to say that some things aren't meant to be means subconciously that you have accepted it. Whether you choose to see that or not is another question in an of itself, but being open about it and willing to see the other side is the first and ultimately the last step.

The fact that some things were not meant to be, will always hurt and leave memories but you have to cope with the situation and remember if they were really meant for you they will always come back to you.

One way to accept that you can't have something you want is to keep in mind that it is entirely possible that something (or someone if we are talking about relationships) may come along later that (or who) may be even better. And if you are tied up with the thing (or person) who you are convinced right now is what you want you might miss the better thing (or person) in the future. Hey.....it could happen. :-)

It's never easy or pleasant, but the fact is you don't have any choice but to accept it. I always try to remind myself that not everything is in my control, and a lot of times I got what I wanted and ended up unhappy anyway.

I accept that knowing that if some things really doesn't contribute to my happiness, in a long term point of view, then they are just not worth it.
So, there is no feeling of loss.
