to rent an apartment for her and her daughter. The problem is her only income is child support and babysitting which she gets paid cash for babysitting and her child support is not court ordered. Is there some way she can still rent an apartment with this kind of income?

Depending on where you guys live and if it's available, she could go to your local Housing Authority and apply for Section 8. This will allow her to rent an apartment or house and they will help her pay for the rent and utilities. It won't happen right away. She will most likely have to ge on the waiting list (1 to 2 years in most cases), but she can ask them what apartment complexes are based on your income. These are not the projects. They are for single parent and low income families that want to have someplace decent to live in a decent neighborhood. I hope this helps out. Good Luck!!!:)

Anything is possible but few landlords rent without credit checks these days and they usually rent when the rental will be no more than 35% of the income. (so a $1000 a month income would qualify for a $350 apartment).
It will probably be better to search the classifieds for a unit owned by a person rather than the standard complex.
You did not say how old the child is but if she is in school , your sister should get a job stat.

Sure.
She would do well to find an apartment that is owned by a person instead of a big company.
Lots of times a person with one or two properties would be more likely to take the risk.
I personally would not do it because that has a high default rate.
Most landlords want to know that the person has RELIABLE steady income.
THIS IS NOT IMO
Is there any way that you could cosign for her.
If you are working and can 'have her back' she might be able to get a place somewhere else or be a bit more selective as to where she rents

I believe it would depend where you live. There are a lot of people that rent out a room on there home for really cheap rent. You should find someone you know that does this that way she isn't living with someone that you both don't know. A lot of retired do this.

She might find an apartment that will take her, but most likely she would need a stable co-signer.
