If you have a major then make sure you decide on a school that supports your major!

But First things first! you must decide whether or no you want a big school or a small school. Do you like to know you teachers on a close time base with about 12-20 people in your class or would you like a bigger school where you have about 30-70 in a normal class and around 200 in a lecture.

Make sure you look at colleges and really check them out. Don't go somewhere just because someone else is going there because that school might be right for them, but not right for you!

Good Luck!

PS. University of Oregon is a BOMB school! GO DUCKS!

That's a VERY broad question.

It's better to ask for ideas of what things to look for when searching for a college. Then find schools that have what you're looking for.

I'd recommend (in the following order): academic reputation, atmosphere (how the students generally act, how profs tend to act, good school spirit, etc), location, and cost.

It's a school, so how well it does as an educational institution is of first importance. Particularly if you have some specific subject or program in mind.

You're going to live and study there, so you gotta know if you'll fit in at that school. Sure you can find friends anywhere, but each school definitely has its own "vibe." Turns out, I didn't really like mine. I never cared before cuz I figured I was adaptable, but now I realize I woulda have an even better time had I gone to a school that fit me better.

Location is important. It affects safety, things to do outside of school, internship/job prospects, etc.

Cost is last b/c if you find a school that will take you that is great in all of the above attributes, it's almost always a better choice than simply going somewhere cheaper. It's ok to take student loans or get a job to be at somewhere you love.

what is your major.. you need to choose your major then choose your school. Harvard or yale is great for a lawyer but would be a terrible choice for a design student or some other subjects. If you have not decided then dont waste your money on going to a large school.. go to your junior college for the first year so you can decide that way you dont waste time or money. Tell us your major then we may be able to better assist you with a more accurate answer vs. a more bias answer.

I go to Lynchburg College in Lynchburg VA. Its a private college with only 2,400 students including grad. students. It's very small and you get a lot of personal attention from your professors. If you want a small college community that is very friendly and always wanting to help you, then take a look at LC!!

I go to the University of New Hampshire in Durham and love it. Campus living is great, academics are great, people are great, and it is close to home. You, however, should be looking for a college that has majors that you are interested in that will set you up for a career that you are interested in. I chose UNH for its biology program and the fact that it has a large program of studies in case I wanted to change my mind, which I did.
