While it has not been confirmed yet, there is an ever growing propability that the answer is YES. You should refer to the link below to the Drake Equation. This is an equation which takes into account the mathematical probability for finding extrateressrial life. It looks at

1. Number of stars in the galaxy(current estimates 100-400 billion)
2.of those stars, how many have planets(estimate 20-50%)
3. For stars with planets, how many planets able to sustain life(estimate 1-5)
4. on planets able to sustain life, how many will life evolve on(current estimates sketchy 0-100%)
5. On planets where life evolves, what percentage of those evolve into intelligent life. (sketchy again 0-100%)
6. On planets with intelligent life, will they wantto and/or develop the means to communicate with us(conservative estimates say 10-20%)
7. For each civilization that does communicate, for what fraction of the planet's life does the civilization survive?

multiply these all together to get the number of communicating civilizations in the galaxy.

Question 2 and 4 make this equation tricky though. We're finding new planets everyday, so the estimates may be much higher. Also, since we try to use our own solar system for observations in guessing these variables, the debate of life on mars(the mars meteorite), and the possibility of life under the ice of Europa; greatly put these values in flux.

We do and have visited Earth for eons. Over the centuries, your planet was a curious place to visit once or twice and was not considered very interesting . Sure, your wars showed us how undeveloped you are as a species. Your infantile,(in cosmic terms) dependence on god concepts does not bode well for you and neither does your penchant to breed beyond your planet's ability to sustain you. We are now showing an interest in you because it is not often that we get to observe a species commit suicide. You are so close to maturing as a sentient species and it will be a shame to see you kill yourselves. There are just not enough of you becoming rational enough to force the issue. You let the least among you determine your fate, so be it.

It has never been proven that aliens reallly live on other planets. So far the scientists have explored Mars and haven't found any.
