The penalty for riding without insurance if caught by police is probably a fine and a loss of licence.
The cost of riding without insurance if you hit a brand new car or injure people is too much to contemplate.
But you can be guarenteed your liability will be in the thousands and you will most likely substantially damage your bike as well...more cost.
If you couldnt afford the insurance you couldnt afford the bike.
Without a word of a lie , at 18 with such a big bike your stastical chance of being involved in an accident is one of the highest, it is not a question of if you have an accident but most certainly when!
Be aware that some companies do offer a very cheap 3rd party property package which means that you are covered if you hit a car but your bike is not.
Get real and get sorted, you have a responsibility to all other road users to cover your liabilities.
Largely because of the small minority such as yourself others who do the right thing have to pay higher premiums, so you wont be winning many sympathizers here!
Trust me an insurance company will not let you walk away after an accident just because you are uninsured.
They will fix their clients car and then they will persue you to get their money . Even if it means you will be paying off the debt for the next 10- 15 years with substantial interest.
Sorry mate , its tough and you probably dont like the answers so far but you asked the question
Basically Do yourself a really big favour...........Get insurance or get off the road!

Death-new laws.
10,000 are you joking? Of course at 18 years old, no matter where you go, you'll have a large insurance bill. I wonder if it's the size of the bike the insurance companies don't like or your age.
Possibly both?

The penalty SHOULD be that they impound your bike (or what's left of it) and make you a deal on a bus pass until you grow up.
From the look of your "photo" with your post, I would guess that it won't be long until you get first-hand experience with the subject matter.
PLEASE think about what you are contemplating or are already doing.

You want to play.........you got to pay. Fines are hefty, so I hope you have deep pockets. I've heard some 'sport rider' have done some time (jail) for similar offense.
I suggest you pony-up or get out.
