There is a neat free programme called Weballow that is password protected and allows you to create a list of sites that your child can visit; if she attempts to visit any other page she will get a blank page
http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/weballow/weballow.html

tip: when you create your password, use something that can't be guessed at easily by your daughter or forgotten easily by yourself
eg a mnenomic such as
mFn1Waj
= my Father's name 1s William arthur jones

...but in the age old battle between daughters and fathers only one outcome is certain: you will lose...

As others have said, you will be much better off talking to her and discussing with her the dangers of people and the internet.

In all honesty, it is very unlikely she will stop using the site, regardless of you banning sites, unless she wants to. Trying to stop her will in all probability, push her into doing it more, allbeit on friends computers or internet cafes or at school etc.

Talking mate, its the only way, and i suspect even then it wont work the way you want it to, the best you can do is tell her why you wish her not to, so that if any of the reasons why you want her to stop do appear, she can do something about them if they become a reality.

Banning them in IE will only make her do it behind your back, and consistantly doing things like this will only make her distrust you or worse.

Not sure if McAfee has a parental control feature. I have Trend Micro Security (www.trendmicro.com) and it has the parental control feature.

It allows me to ban any website that my kids should be looking at. It also tracks the websites they go to.

Besides, Trend Micro has a better antivirus security feature. McAfee doesn't do a good job with viruses.

Hi. I an also a a teenager. I am 14. This is expected from teenagers. I don't do it because I don't see the point in it. You don't know who your talking to and it's just boring. If you block the site she will eventually find another site and use that instead. You need to sot her down and talk calmly to her to make her understand. If you shout at her, because she is a teenager, she may throw a tantrum. Just tell her the disadvantaged of doing this and she will come through!
Good Luck and all the best!!

You could ban the site by using the content advisor on the "content" tab of internet options in Interent Explorer browser.
On the content tab, you can type in the address of any sites you wish to control access to, you should then set a password to enable and disable the content advisor.

You should also talk to your daughter about the dangers of such sites and perhaps allow her to use "supervised" chat rooms for girls her age. Not allowing her to go to any of these sites may just cause her to be more secretive and look for another site you haven't blocked.
Chatting on the internet is one thing, but dating is dangerous.
Encourage her to use chat rooms that are controlled and monitored.

Banning one website will not solve the problem because she can easily browse the web and find millions of similar website.I think your daughter need to be taught what is good for her

How old is she? Does she date boys she meets regularly, like at school? You need to talk to her about what she is doing - like another answer said, if you ban one site she'll just find another, and you can't ban them all. If you stop her using the internet altogether, she'll just use it at a friend's house.

Communication is the key to this I think.

You say she is teenage.....but I guess it depends how old she is!! Maybe you should sit down with her and talk.....It may be a lack of self esteem and her friends are all dating banning her from these sites will only make any potential problems worse!

Try spending time with your daughter and talk to her about what she's doing. If you block one website she'll just find another.

Talk with your daughter and tell her of the dangers. If she does it again don't let her use the computer.
