You still have a problem, yes on some vehicles disconnecting the negative battery terminal will clear the troublecode, however in most vehicles now the troublecodes are stored in ECM. Troublecodes occur when there is something wrong, typically if the problem occurs once the ECM makes a note of that troublecode, if it appears again a warning light will come on. If the problem doesn't occur again for any length of time the light will go out, but if the problem keeps occuring, your stored troublecode will remain and the warning light will stay on until cleared by OBD II scan tool, or OBD I scan tool.

Secondly, if you replaced your own battery you might want to invest in a tool called a Memory Saver, you can pick these up for about $20 at any local auto store. This will keep the memory in ECM and keep power to all those components who need it. ie) car clock and your transmisson. You then won't risk losing critical data. (Trust me on this, losing data is not fun, infact I had that happen today in the shop. What a headache.)

Lastly, there is something a miss with your electrical system particularly if you are not getting a smart. Does your starter engage? I would take it to a repair shop just to be safe. Also have you exceed 130,000 miles? I know on Chrysler/Dodge as well as Fords if you exceed this many miles, there is nothing you can do yourself to clear the troublecode, if must be done by a qualified technician.

Doesn't sound right. Maybe there is a wire that didn't get put back on. Retrace your steps. Disconnect the batterty for 2 hours to reset the codes. You will have to go through the transmission learning procedure. When it gets started, put lever to 1 and switch it from 1 to 2 and back 20 times and then do the same for 2nd. This will tell the computer where the lever position is at in correspondence with the tranny. Good luck.

Disconnect the negative battery cable, wait for 5 to 10 min, and reconnect it. This will clear all the codes from the computer. If this doesnt work there is a possibility that there is damage somewhere in the electrical system or even the ECM.

Removing the battery would in effect reset any trouble codes. I think you still have a problem.
