My mom has worked in the garment/textile business for 20 years and finally decided to leave the industry in pursuit of an easier less labored job. She is looking for a postion that allows for salary increases every once and awhile and flexible hours.

The problem is that she speaks no English and has no college education. She wants to stay active working and contributing to a company's cause but does not know where to start. My mom plans to start learning English during the weekends so she will have a basic understanding of English.

Are there any jobs that require no or little English communication as a requirement and no specific skilled labor ??? Any help will be appreciated... Thanks

I am a stay at home mother of two girls, and I am very proud to say that I am making money with a phenomenal company. Arbonne International is a product driven company that shares incredible products. We have just opened up to Canada and Mexico So we have marketing materials in espanol. This is something that she can do along her current job until she is able to build a business and leave that all together. Have her take a peak at my website www.thewayback.myarbonne.com and scroll down to the bottom for the links in Spanish. She can email me from there.

Your mother sounds like she should definitely learn English. In the meantime, there are a number of ways she could make some money by having her own business on a website. What that would be: I have no idea, but many others who have no special skills or education have worked hard and done well by creating website businesses. Or...she might want to check out employment agencies who cater to non-English speakers. Another hint: there is a big demand for in-home nannies to take care of small pre-school children for parents who both work.

Yeah, picking tomatos, although I have a feeling that is not what she wants to do. I'm afraid her options are limited. Check with your local government, newspapers, etc for agencies that help immigrants. Although your mother is not a recent immigrant, she has some of the same issues.

And please help her learn English as soon as possible. No, I am not one of those English-only whackos, but learning English is the only way she can realistically increase her employability in the U.S.
