Babies shouldn't wear shoes until they are older. If they wear them during the early months it can cause problems with their feet.
Around the time they start standing is when you can go ahead and put them in shoes. Usually around 10-11 months is when this happens.

NO. Walking shoes are not recommended these days. Soft bottom leather shoes are good if you are in a cold climate or are going out. My babies wear Robeez (about $30) if they can't be barefoot. Babies should have the least amount of stuff between their feet and the floor/ground when they are learning to walk. The old stiff high-ankle baby shoe is a thing of our parents' generation.

I had my baby in shoes from day one, I love baby shoes. I was told that you should wait on walking shoes until about six months. I just put on cute shoes walking ones or not.

Letting your new walker go barefoot as much as possible is best for their development.
There are leather moccasins that fit well and provide some protection when outdoors. My son walked at 10 months so we bought regular shoes but avoided them unless absolutely necessary.

I bought the regular shoes (looked like adult shoes in baby sizes) from the day she was born. I never liked those prewalkers and soft soled shoes because they looked so stupid and were always ugly! She is 15 months and walking (and climbing, running, jumping and EVERYTHING) prefectly fine, so it never hurt her! She walked about 10-11 months too, which is average. A lot of older moms or grandmothers will give the speech that it can ruin their feet, but I checked with my doctor (and she is a mother also) and she laughed and said it was fine.

My son has these huge fat feet and finding shoes are near impossible. He wears slippers most of the time or goes bare or stocking footed.
