i'm a butch gal thats in search of a femme. the only problem is that i don't know how to tell whether they're straight or gay!what are some good hints to help me along? where are all the femmes in BC, Canada? i've seen alot of soft-butch couples, but i'm only attracted to femmes, does that make me picky?

I don't know about canada but in other parts of the world usually you can tell if someone finds you interesting enough to want to get to know you better.. like much better . just be yourself . trust your instincts.. if you are open and friendly something will happen !!
Where are you meeting these girls ?? Just hang out with people you can trust to be good friends.. My shy but soft butch girlfriend took a long time to believe that I was flirting with her because she had always had crushes on very hetero femme women . who she knew would not think the same way as her... I broke the ice by exchanging books with a lesbian subtext ..Jeanette Winterson -Sexing the Cherry as I recall .....books like that..!!!!
There are some great books in the shops at the moment by a british dyke - Sarah Waters tis she who wrote Tipping the Velvet ..the Night watch is her most recent book ..

Yup, it does make you picky and maybe a bit affraid of opening yourself up to your options. You shouldn't look for appearances only, but to the person within. Don't be so shallow...you never know..you're soulmate just might be a soft-butch, stone butch or tweener...you just never know!

Yep, you're picky. :P Anyways, it's been my experience that that it's mostly hit or miss. You ask someone out and find out if they go that way or not.
