In Pirates of the Caribbean 1, why is William Turner's blood needed instead of any other of the cursed pirates? Like couldn't one of the other pirates given blood to lift the curse instead?

Everyone who took a coin from the chest was cursed. Each one had to repay with blood and all coins had to be returned to lift the curse. But Bootstrap had been tied to a cannon and dumped in the sea, they presumed dead. The cursed pirates needed his blood to lift the curse. Absent him, they needed his son's blood. Why didn't they go back and find Bootstrap still strapped to the cannon if they needed his blood? Maybe they did but by that time, Bootstrap was gone, having already made a deal with Davy Jones.

this is the same answert that i gave to your other question. i just felt like putting it again. lol

whenever someone (or something a.k.a jack the monkey) takes a piece of the cursed aztec gold, they become cursed and must return the gold with their blood on it. So the other pirates had already used their blood on it because all the pieces were returned except for the one that Will had. and Will's blood was needed because his father, Bootstrap Bill Turner, was strapped by his bootstraps to a canon and sunk to the depths of davy jones locker where he would later be taken into jones' crew. So since they couldn't get Bootstrap's blood, they had to get the next best thing which would be dear William.
hope i could help!!!! ;)

Barbossa says everyone in the crew has already repaid their blood debt. Unfortunately, they sent Bootstrap to the bottom of the ocean before they realized they needed the blood of everyone who was part of the crew when they took the gold. Since they kicked out Bootstrap, they needed to find him in order to get the curse lifted.

Now, because of the sequel, we know that Bootstrap is (sort of) alive and well on Davy Jones's ship. However, Barbossa and the rest of the Black Pearl crew probably didn't know that either (and even if they did, fat chance Jones would let him go to help lift the curse). What they *do* know is that Bootstrap sent the last piece of gold to his child. So they set out to find the last piece of gold, assuming that the person it was found with would be Bootstrap's son. Probably why they didn't second guess when Elizabeth said her last name was Turner.

Anyway, seeing as Bootstrap wasn't readily available and William Jr. has half his DNA, he's a suitable replacement for the curse.

Disneyland. The same place where they held the premieres for both Pirates movies, and where they will hold the premiere for Pirates 3. The red carpet is on Main Street USA, then they set up a giant screen by the River & Tom Sawyer's Island, with the seats on the river bank (near New Orleans Square).

Because the writers intended Will's father to be dead and the coin became Will's problem. Until it was returned all of the pirates were cursed.

SPOILER

But as you learn the father was not truly dead, so the curse should not have been lifted. They needed the father's blood. Movie two screws up movie one.

No. His father is the only one of the pirates who didn't repay the debt. His father helped bring on the curse. Well, he's dead (in that movie, anyway), so they can't use his blood, but they can use William's because it's the same blood.

EDIT-- LORD Z.... your're right that the curse was not lifted, that's why Barbosa shows up at the end of the second movie. It was not a screw up.

okay the deal with that was that all of jack's crew was cursed. and will's father bootstrap bill was one of the pirates. the other pirates including barbossa were cursed too, so they couldn't give their blood. they needed the blood of the one with the last piece of treasure, the only descendant of the last cursed pirate

The other pirates didn't bleed; they could not be killed. Also they needed William's-dad's blood originally (forgot the reason) so that's why they needed William's blood; his living relative.

They need the blood of a lousy actor to break the curse. Who's worse than Orlando Bloom?

welcome to plot hole city! The only thing I can think is that the other (cursed) pirates didn't have any blood to give, though why none of their other relatives could be used, who knows. Hey, it's a Jerry Bruckheimer film, after all! Excitement, explosions, not much thinking.
