you definetly caught him wild i know I see these all the time they don't make good pets and almost for sure will not live you should let it go. It will not eat in captivity but you can try ants or baby crickets but only put in a couple or the ants or crickets will end up eating him. superworms would eat a salamander that size.

Small crickets/insects or baby fish. Most salamanders and other reptiles will not eat anything that isn't alive. You can try salamander food but it may not eat it. Mostly you'll just have to feed it tiny crickets. And to add to the other comment, I've had them before too and they always died. Wild caught salamanders don't do well in captivity, especially the really small ones. You can try for a day or two but if it won't eat you should let it go.

I have a tiger salamander, great reptile to keep by the way, and we just feed him a dozen large crickets over the course of the month. I have tried the pellets but he did not seem much impressed and seems to only go for the live food. Good luck with your new pet :)

They should sell tabs at the petstore for your salamanders. Just ask them what would be best. When I had frog tadpoles, I bought algae tablets, and my tadpoles at them. (they were in a tank with my fish, my fish LOVED them, so I had to put in extras or my piggy fish would eat them all) When your salamanders are grown you'll have to switch to crickets. I had salamanders for a while but I had to get rid of them because I discovered- I have a serious fear of crickets.

i used to find those all the time where i used to live they kinda live in sorta wet inverments like damp dirt and stuff, i think that is what they eat too, dirt kinda like a worm but i dont really know u should look it up
