i started to see my first discharge when i was 8 and got my period when i was 11 so u should be patient and wait
when the time comes u might feel better first using just pads until u get used to ur body etc.
but tampons sure are better, they are easy to use (look at the instructions if ur not sure) no mess and give u much more freedom to move around, swim etc...
use a mirror if u feel safer
u should pick any brand u fancy ( i use OB dont know if u get it over the us but its really good) u should start out with the smallest in the range and then work ur way upwords as u feel necessary.
there are 2 types of tampons the ones with the applicator and the ones without. applicator is like asyringe thing which helps u ease in the tampon without messing ur finger.
i personally prefer the ones with the applicator they seem to fit it in place with less effort.
hope it helps

The average age to get your period is 12 or 13. If you are slim or especially athletic, you mat get it as late as 18, like my best friend in high school.
You will probably be more comfortable using pads first, although once you use a tampon, you'll see how much better they are. You can't feel them at all. Read the instructions inside the box and use a mirror to help you the first couple of times.
If a tampon won't come out - don't freak out! I totally panicked when I was 13 and couldn't get one out. That just means it's still dry and not ready to be changed.
P.S. Do not listen to the last post. Tampons do not have "tons of risks". She's VERY wrong. Also you can use a tampon before you have sex. The hymen will not restrcit it. Lillian needs to go back to health class!

When you get it depends on how old you are and how active you are. Anywhere between ages 9 and 16 is normal I think.
I hate tampons, but other girls swear by them. They take some practice. Start off with pads ( "Always" brand is good). Then ask a friend about tampons, if they use them ask them how their first experience was with tampons.
Everything is a learning process.

it will come beleive me, i would start with a pad, and slowly get used to tampons, or if you want to start practicing with tampons now you can do that too, see if they are comfy for you, just remember if you can feel them once they are in they are not in far enough. practice now. i personally could never go back to pads. but don't worry you should be getting it and it will come when you least expect it thats another given~

I was never obsessed with starting my period. In fact, I was completely pissed when it did start...so I don't get all these questions you keep posting about this. The other day you couldn't even ask your mother for a panty-liner. Jeesh.
It will start when it starts. Use whatever you feel most comfortable with.

i would use a pad until you have intercourse, you will hopefully have a hymen until then which may restrcit a tampons placement. pads may not be as clean as tampons but they are much more healthy without the tons of risks that tampons have. use pads at least for a while until you become comfotable with your body.. good luck
