I just started being a guid a couple of days ago. It seems every time a search comes up and click on accept someone takes it. Does this always happen or just when your starting out?

You have to be quick like a bunny. You do however have more of a chance to get the search if it is related to one of your keywords. Also the higher you get in rank the more searches will pop up as well as training tasks for you to administer to new guides...
Also if you are a late night person, after midnight is pretty busy, with not too many guides on so your chances of getting a search are much higher!
