Gregory B is quite correct, the largest organism alive on Planet Earth today is a mushroom (and its associated underground mass of mycelium.)

There is one in Oregon that covers 22 ACRES!!!!!

That's a little bigger than a Blue Whale! (and it would probably taste better!LOL!)
