I need to make a map of the Czech Republic vs. Czechoslovakia and it needs to be creative. I also want to make it into a fun afternoon project for my friend and myself...any ideas?

Try making a topographical map with paper machaie / paper mache (spell it however you like). It is cheap, It is fun to play in the goo... and it makes for an educational time. You'll learn about the country's mountains, valleys and lakes and if it is well done, it should earn you a good grade. (be sure you paint it and then add varnish or it won't look finished) I attached a link with a decent recipe.

Good luck with your project.

Okay here is what i did for my map project. I used different colored dried beans. like for the rivers and ocean i got some rice and i painted over it. then for like the mountains i got some brown beans. and you can basically use what you already have in the pantry. Use many kinds of dried foods. like apricots or banana chips or anything even raisins. i got an A+ on that project. It was unlike anybody elses. it was so cool. so try it. oh yeah you know how on like maps and things like that that it is different colors? well do that or you could use lasagna noodles as the background country. if you have any more ? about homework e-mail me tumblegirlba@yahoo.com

In my old School we created a simular project using pipe cleaners for the outline, paper tissue for mountains etc.. no fun beats geting messy.

On amazing idea a guy did was to make a light stencil, and the map appear as a shadow when he held it to a light. It took him ages and looked really hard but the outcome was amazing.

well, you can make a travel guide as if you were giving the pamphlet to a world traveler, you can include like a map, some fun sights to visit etc...Have Fun!
Oh, you can make the travel guide with a regular piece of computer paper! Try to make the guide look like it has three sections...in other words, have three sections of "hot dog fold", (if you know what I mean!)
Again! Have Fun!!!

I know the general area of where to look for it, but if you took all the labels off a map and asked me to identify exactly which one it was, I probably wouldn't be able to.

For my wedding my mom made one for us in a picture frame. It had the map of maui on it in the background (where we got married) then small items glued on in different spots representing different things. For example, where we got married on the island she had silver bells glued on, where we lost our car keys she had mini keys glued on, etc. Then she sealed it all in this hard gloss finish. It was so cool.
