After over a dozen answers of "MMVII" you must be ready for something different. There are numbeous other Roman numeral beyond M=1000, D=500, C=100, L=50, X=10, V=5 and I=1. There is also S = 7 or 70, O = 11, F = 40, A = 50 or 500, S = 70 or 7, R = 80, N = 90, Y = 150, T = 160, H = 200, E = 250 and K = 250, B = 300, G = 400 and P = 400, A = 500 or 50 and Q = 500, Z = 2000 (see

Of course, smaller numbers in front of larger ones subtract (IV=4) Also, a bar over a number multiplies it by 1000. SO here are some alternatives:

ZS
_
IIVII - my favorite

MQKYCVOI

The conbinations are endless.

There was no zero as there was no need for it. The Roman counting system was based on the hand The V for 5 represents the an open hand(thumb and index) The X for 10 represents crossed hands We still use the word digits for numbers! Algebra with the concept of equations brought the need for zero Algebra is indeed an Arabic word There is a never ending debate on whether this was Arabic,Persian or Indian-so let's say Near East!!

Technically you can't exactly write that. "0" is a term in Arabic numbering. We Europeans never knew "0" until the Arabs came along. In Roman numerals the equivalent would be "MMVII".
