I want to mail something, but it says not to use certified mail. What is that? and what isn't certified mail? Thanks!

With certified mail someone signs for it and then you receive a receipt that proves that it was mailed and received. I would be suspicious when they say no certified mail since it costs them nothing.

There is an extra charge to the sender for the service.

Certified mail requires some one to sign for it. regular post is just dropped in the box.

it is an anachronism, a dated form of communication, which is still required by certain processes. It serves to prove that something was delivered, as the addressee must sign for such a piece... but what it doesn't do is prove what was sent.
