If you try a new anti-virus, be sure to uninstall the old one first. But before you do all that; Reboot into SAFE mode. Just hit the F8 key during the startup sequence, but BEFORE the first Windows screen appears. Timing is critical, so wait for it. Pick SAFE mode from the black menu that comes up. Then run your anti-virus scan while in safe mode.

I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.

Good luck and Happy Computing!
Regards,
Prasad.

Depends on the virus. Search the net for the specific virus name with 'removal' or 'remove'. This will give you the manual instructions, but you can get in trouble this way and really hose your computer. I know avast has a cleaner that works against specific viruses. You may want to try that.

Otherwise, install and do all anti-spy and anti-malware scans.
