Solve for y
x + 2y = -10
Subtract x from each side
2y = -x - 10
Divide both sides by 2
y = (-1/2)x - 5
The slope is the number in front of the x.
m = slope = -1/2

Convert your equation to slope-intercept form. In that form, the coefficient of x equals the slope.
Slope-intercept form looks like this: y=mx+b m is the coefficient of x(and slope) and b is the y-intercept

So you have
x + 2y = -10
subtract x from each side
2y = -x -10
divide by 2(y always has to be by itself in this type of equation)
y = -1/2 -5

So the slope is -1/2

x+2y=-10
subtract -x from both sides
-x+x+2y=-x-10
=> 2y=-x-10
divide 2 from both sides
2y/2=(-x-10)/2
simplify
y=(-1/2)x-5
since the equation is in the form:y=mx+c
m;slope =>-1/2 or -0.5
-5 is the y-intercept.

Put the equation in slope intercept form.

x + 2y = -10
2y = -x - 10
y = (-1/2)x - 5

Slope = -1/2

*The goal is isolating "y" by moving other variables to the right side of the equation > y = mx +b.

First: subtract "x" from both sides >

x - x + 2y = -10 - x
2y = -10 - x

Sec: make sure the right side is written in alpha descending order > variables/letters are first.

2y = -x - 10

Third: divide both sides by 2 >

2y/2 = -x/2 - 10/2
y = -1x/2 - 5

*The slope is a fraction/whole number in front of the "x" varible, in this case the slope = -1/2

Subtract x from both sides:
2y=-x-10

Divide 2 from both sides:
y=-1/2x-5

Slope is -1/2.

the answer is -1/2
y=mx+b
subtract x from each side---2y= -x-10

divide each side by 2 ----y=-1/2x-5

so the slope is -1/2
