I know this is a really vague question, I think there must be a reason why there is so much crime in America, one of the world's biggest Christian nations. Is it just passion and emotion, like the desire to rip off a Benz or "hit that piece of as s"? Or are there really deep issues like disenfranchisement and unresolved anger at work? Not trying to solve the world's problems, just trying to start a conversation.

I think chronic crime is caused by the lack of respect for humanity, laws, and right and wrong. Going down the "straight and narrow" is hard work, and if a person is not taught this at an early age, whether through a hard-working single parent or through a traditional 2 parent home, it becomes harder and harder to abide by society's rules and earn an honest living. If you don't believe there is any value in a person or their belongings, you won't think twice about abusing them or taking what they have. Of course this problem cannot be answered in a small paragraph, but I think this is the root of the problem.

Laziness and boredom-Folks want things, but don't want to have to got to work 40 hours a week to get money, so crimes are easier. Selling drugs makes them big bucks, stealing gets them things they don't have, or can sell, rape is just a Power trip thing. I think if we offered INTERESTING things for people to do, especially folks in High School or just out, crime would decrease a bit. LIke have free heavy Metal band lessons, lots of guys and girls would like to learn metal guitar, or rap lessons and contests. Or even drag racing on a track-just something cool to take up time, and get their interest. Free Harley mechanic school? This kind of thing.
