Ratings I guess. A lot of people will say it boils down to Mischa Barton leaving. For me, that was a good thing. I really didn't enjoy Season 3 all that much. All that bull##*) with Marissa got incredibly boring.
I have been really enjoying season 4, so I am quite disappointed that the show has now been axed. I think Taylor and Kaitlin are much better characters than Marissa ever was and it's just a shame we didn't get to see more of them in the show at a much earlier stage.
Ahhh the fickle world of television...

power rises and each character on the show wants the show to be about them specifically. They're all hot and all had exciting parts but sooner or later they all wind up in the producers office at one time or another and try to shift the show towards them. when a raise wont' do it they must end the show. when they're pissed off cameras u can tell on camera. this has happened a lot right Shanon Doherty?

definitely because it was up against grey's anatomy. we have enough teen soaps and doctor shows but since grey's is more of a dramedy it won out. anyway the cast is in college, do they really have many places to go. i think the same thing will happen to one tree hill. they will be in college next year. thats what happens with teen soaps. well anyway if you are still a fan buy the dvds on amazon or something.

Ratings. It isn't as popular anymore and isn't drawing as many viewers, so Fox decided they're not gonna waste money keeping on a show that the entire world isn't watching.

It wasn't as popular anymore, and wasn't drawing in enough viewers. Therefore, FOX had to scrap it.
