My horse is going in Monday for Cryotherapy (freezing off) Squamous Cell Carcinoma ON her eye. I am wondering if anyone here has experience with freezing anything on the eye- or any eye procedures. Can I expect full vision? Will it most likely damage some of her vision?
Any info on related topics would be great.

My mare had the same thing, but it was on her inner eyelid. They were going to freeze it off too, but she was being so good during the exam that they decided to just give her a local and cut it off instead. Which was a lot cheaper. She came out with no problems, but she has to wear a fly mask in the summer time. We had to put an antibiotic on the eye for several weeks, and she hated that. She hates the fly mask too.

I would call and ask your vet your questions, too.

Good luck.

I am personally only into either both are none but having said that I don't think it really affects there chances of winning shows. At least in the english world, I am not sure about western. My trainer has a sale pony in that is in the top three at every show no matter how many entries and she has only one blue eye and is a double registered tri-color paint. The only thing that would concern me is that sometimes, and not always, but over time wall eyes can lead to blindness and later on eye removal. So just keep that in mind. I have had two ponies that have I have actually gotten more money for because they were wall eyed. It is a neat and different look that can make a horse stand out. Just wheigh out your options because only you can decide in the end. Listen to everyones opinions on the subject and keep your mind open to other options as well.
