i have a big time problem with this because things like that can make me feel really depressed sometimes & it's not the confidence issue. i feel great in my own company and the company of other, tender people. i just want to learn to ignore the other type and not mind their presence.

thanx

Hi Juliet,
I understand your concern. Sometimes other people are truly insensitive and thoughtless. Unfortunately we can't change other people only the way we react to what they say. Just try to see it from their side, just because they may be jealous or thoughtless or just plain stupid never gives them the right to make you feel bad. If they are people close to you you can just tell them not to mention certain things and if they really care about you they won't. If the people who are insensitive are strangers or people who you don't know very well just lock it away for the moment then later just feel pity for the person who would say such a stupid thoughtless comment to try to make another person feel bad.

I, like you were the same way, very sensitive to things people would say to me, although I always acted tough, I wasn't really. Some comments would really hurt my feelings and bother me for a long time. But I think of myself now as a shield and no matter what hurtful things people say to me it always bounces off and goes right back to that person, although I am able to let the loving comments come through, the bad ones just bounce off and go right back to the source. You are entitled to enjoy your own special moments but you need to give yourself permission to not allow the negative comments to bother you, try it it really works.
