The basic plot is two rival Magicians striving for the perfect act. Both achieve this perfect performance yet one in a very unbelievable way....I'll just leave it at that so I don't ruin it for you.

The Prestige is a 2006 period film directed by Christopher Nolan, adapted from Christopher Priest's award-winning 1995 novel of the same name. The film depicts the rivalry of Robert Angier and Alfred Borden, two Victorian era stage magicians in late 19th- and early 20th-century London. Angier blames Borden for a tragic accident, and a competitive one-upmanship ensues, in which both magicians, obsessed with creating the best stage illusion, stop at nothing to uncover the secret of each other's acts, with deadly results.

It's a really great movie very suspenseful. It takes place, . . . probably in the late 1800's early 1900's. It's about the two magicians, Robert and Alfred, who start out working together in an act, but have a parting of ways(major plot point don't want to say what). Then they get this rivalry going, trying to come up with the best magic trick ever. Well, Alfred (Christian Bale) comes up with this new trick, and Robert (Hugh Jackman) becomes *obesessed* with figuring out how Alfred does this trick. And it's about the lengths he'll go to to figure how Alfred does it. And the lengths he'll go to to out, uh, magic him. It's very suspenseful, keeps you guessing right up to the end.

this movie is excellent but kind of hard to follow. two magicians turn against each other and compete against each other with different assistants. it documents their home and personal life, and about their magic skills and dangers against each other and for themselves. it actually happens around the early 1900's, or the mid 1900's. the main plot is all about their rivalry and being the greatest magician ever. there is a lot of magic in it. we see who wins the " battle" at the end. you'll really like it!!!

Highly recommend this movie, but don't let anyone ruin the ending for you! Amazing cast, great story line that twists and turns. Totally see it, and enjoy!
