I've kinda always wondered why women leave it down.

Well I honestly don't understand why it is a guy's responsibility to leave the seat down for girls. I live in a house with three guys and one woman (my mom), and yet she completely freaks when the toilet seat is left up. There are more guys in my house using the bathroom than there are girls. I'm not a jerk or anything, but I'm TRYING to look at this from a logical standpoint.

The subject never really affected me before, until i recently watched a programme called "Grime scene investigation".It was a documentary type show, following the lives of four flat mates, the object was to find which of the four was the least hygienic and to highlight the consequences of the general lack of hygiene .The whole flat was a seething, simmering pot of varying bacterial cultures & bugs invisible to the naked eye (the flat mates were females ) but when it came to investigating the loo that made me want to never poo again and nail the toilet seat closed. Whatever youve done in there #1 / #2 / vomit, and you flush, billions of particles of whatever are sprayed all around the room(again invisible to the naked eye) a chemical which detected traces of poo was sprayed all over the room ,and the things closest to the actual toilet got hit with the most crap (literally) namely in this instance the toothbrushes ,wash basin & soap which were caked in the stuff.I have never flushed with the lid up since , i threw the soap & toothbrushes out and replaced them after bleaching the loo and scrubbing until i was almost sure that open heart surgery could be performed in there without risk of infection. Sorry for ranting but your question brought the images of the show flooding back , tell them their brushing their teeth and washing in poo and pee and they might consider putting the seat down.

Men need it up. Women need it down. No matter which way it is, one side will be having to do a little extra before they use the bathroom. I have many women tell me that it is so simple to put the seat down, but isn't also so easy to just put down?

By the same token, why don't you leave the toilet seat up? You know we like it!

I ready for all the thumbs down for this but, if guys just start peeing on the seat, women will remember to put it up when they are finished.

There, I said it, now I'm ready for the thumbs down.

My wife just saw this and gave me a thumbs down already.

Okay.....
Yes I've left the seat up, and I consider myself a "well-trained guy".

But I guess the question in reverse is... I have to flip it up to use it.
So it is kind of a "both ways similar" thing isn't it?

I'm not trying to be a jerk, I have dutifully done the good thing for decades now..... but is it REALLY that big a deal?

Ehhh women leave it down. Ever had a male pee with the seat down? I'd rather he leave it up then pee with it down. It's a quick glance and a quick push with one finger to put it back down. I haven't strained anything yet putting it down myself ;)

Only was an issue when our kids were small and it was a safety issue....
