In response to the people that answered Sweden only because they won the last Winter Olympics I would say that the Canadians and Americans usually have a harder time at the Olympics when held outside North America as the European teams do when it is in North America. Who won the last World Cup of Hockey, Women's Gold, Four Nations Cup, World Juniors, 2002 Men's and women's gold? How did a Swedish team do in the European held Spengler Cup? Shall I go on?

Canada and really it has to do with supporting the game from the grassroots level to the pros.
Having said that, our NHL rinks are not loud enough. I still find the Garden in NY much louder for example.
