First off, if you have to change its food then you clearly don't know what you are doing as far as even owning a snake. Secondly, if you are asking how to remember to check on it simply write it down on a calendar if you don't handle it every day. Get a notebook and write down when the last time it ate or the last time the water was changed. If you handle your snake at least every few days this would not be a problem as you could check on it then.

Reptiles aren't mammals. It's a common mistake to think that reptiles require constant care because dogs and cats seem to beg for affection.

Actually, snakes do well to be left alone for the most part. About 30 minutes to an hour a day is about all a snake can handle before becoming stressed.

Also its cage layout is key as well. The more hides you have, the more secure the snake will feel. I've noticed with my own snakes they become much bolder when they know they can easily hide.

If you want to be able to check on the snake without disturbing them in their cage, set up the hides in such a way to were you can see a little bit of the snake (such as holes that are big enough to see the side of the snake, but not big enough to make the hide feel "open"). With this kind of setup, you'll know where the snake is without sacrificing its privacy.

Whenever you have the snake out for its "daily exercise" you can look it over and see if it is injured in any way, coming into shed (typically the foggy eyes and dull color are the signs of mid shed), and host to parasites like mites. Watching the snake in the cage and learning what is normal behavior for the snake can help you to recognize early warning signs of diseases.

What do you mean by check it more often? You pick up the rock it is hiding under and look at it. Make sure it has water. Feed it as often as the size requires. If you are afraid of it- and that is why you are not checking on it- probably should get over that fear or not own a snake. Snake bites don't really hurt (non venomous).
If it snaps at everything it sees- use a stick to find it hiding in dirt, and then pick it up. The more you work with it, the calmer it will be.

I tried to answer, but it is a really ambiguous question.

The answer is simple, take time every day and handle the snake. take it out of the cage and hold it.
And now for a harsh reality check. if you had to honestly ask how to check on your snake more often, then there is absolutely no reason you should own a snake. So please, do the rest of the herpetology community a favor and bring that snake back to the pet store.

first pick a time that is consistent like before work/school or after supper etc get in the habit of doing it at the same time every day if you have a hard time remembering associate the activitiy with something so it triggers your brain to remind you like a show on tv that you dont like when you see it maybe the news or something go tend your snake

Ok, how about...what is your question? Check your snake for what? Instead of being on Answers, check your snake. Does that qualify?

Is "be more responsible, please" a better answer?

it depends on what you want to check it for.if you want to check it for mites then look for little red creatures and if you are checking to see if him/her has worms then check their poo for little eggs or worms. if you are worried about your snake you could take it to the vets as they can give it a thorough check up to see if it is OK. i hope my info has helped.
